The HSE defines it as: “A collection of independent information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the total health & safety management system and drawing up plans for corrective action.”
Here at Bowen Safety Ltd we can complete impartial external audits to enhance your Safety Management System (SMS). We have several audit programmes to suit businesses of any size.
We conduct all audit by:
- Conduct an opening meeting with all relevant members of staff.
- Visit the site and assess the risks to employees.
- Document and record observations made on-site.
- Identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Rank issues in priority order (address major risks first).
- Assess if a proper performance review system is in place.
- Submit the audit report.
- Take steps to prevent harm and remove unsafe hazards/practices.
- Conduct a closing meeting
External Safety Management System Audit
We will look at your own internal SMS to give your business an understanding of how your internal systems is performing and if your system is improving your overall safety culture. At the end of the audit, Bowen Safety Ltd will complete a full report for your business to indicate how your SMS is performing and if there any parts of your system will need improving and recommendation from us how you could improve your SMS.
External GAP Analysis
Deciding if your business is ready for an accreditation and standardisation or you have designed your SMS or Integrated Management System for ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 but not sure if your system is ready to pass the formal audit. Bowen Safety Ltd can complete a gap analysis on your system to confirm where your business is and what measure need to be implemented or that you are ready to go for your accreditation.
Compliance Audits
Some businesses would like to understand if they are compliant to the current HSE regulations. Bowen Safety Ltd will be there to complete this for you, we will look at your business model and the relevant legislation then complete an audit against all your policies and procedure to confirm your business is doing what it needs to do to protect your employees and be legally compliant.
